Insurance Companies as well as Litigators are increasingly aware that High Hazard activities require highly trained Managers & Supervisors. In the modern era they have enormous responsibilities in regards to Crisis Management and the deployment of recourses to deal with any crisis or incident or at the very least, perform snatch rescues of endangered staff and stop the incident from spreading by mitigation in their planning stage. Managers are often promoted into a position that automatically comes with a role in their company Crisis Management Plan. It can be either at the Strategic, Tactical or Operational / Intervention levels, yet they have never been trained or prepared to be able to function in this role? With this course / seminar we aim to give you the skills and train you how to cope in this reality. We live in a world of instant media and thus accountability for damage, loss of production, injuries or even fatalities which can overwhelm an inexperienced or untrained manager acting in a role they never envisaged. Wherever you are and whatever your company does - Accountability is required in three areas,

  • Legal – there are local, national and international laws and guidelines that must be followed and adhered to. Failure to do so can lead to prosecution, fines or even criminal convictions in a system that does not allow for lack for knowledge.

  • Financial – If your company suffers any type of Crisis ‘Event’ from either fire, spillage, loss of product, loss of production, environmental, outage, terrorism etc, you will incur a huge loss and perhaps failure to supply your clients. It is a well-known fact that 60% of companies who fail to prepare a Crisis Management Plan will fail over the following 3 years. Loss of reputation and legal liabilities can be highly destructive to a company.

  • Moral – The health, safety & welfare of your workforce is your highest priority and you must be able to keep them safe from the often-dangerous activities of your Industry. These activities must be anticipated, plans made to mitigate any dangers and if necessary, extract personnel from Danger. Your assets of plant and equipment must be protected from damage to protect the livelihoods of those who work for you. The environment must be protected by law and plans to prevent contamination or damage from your activities must be made. You must also have plans to recover quickly from any event or you will lose the confidence of your clients.

The sheer range of potential incidents and emergencies that can disrupt or even stop production are increasing. If managed correctly then not all of these incidents will become critical or be classed as a crisis, but those that result in increased losses or put increased demand upon the organization will have serious consequences for the company, the shareholders and stakeholders or the country itself badly damaging the reputation of all those involved in the response. This course / seminar is delivered in a collegiate manner in comfortable surroundings and will enhance your planning & leadership capabilities through assessment, syndicate role play, and group discussions. You will enhance your crisis communication skills and develop team problem solving techniques and methods through various proven challenges. Participants will be given a full student manual with industry standards, audits, plans and checklists which are easily adapted to your own site specific needs, and a full electronic Crisis Response Manual and a video of how to use it. You will understand Command & Control and be able to plan for it and implement it

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  •  Recognize the attributes between incidents, emergencies and crisis situations
  •  Develop methods to avoid unnecessary escalation, and how to design, command and control response to each scenario
  •  Enhance on-scene leadership capabilities and techniques
  •  Apply best practice in organizing Emergency Control Centers (ECC), Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and Crisis Management Teams (CRT) to assist the Forward Incident Control (FIC)
  •  Analyze human factor and allocate duties with regards to psychological readiness, recourse allocation, deployment, discipline, leadership and welfare
