Why Attend
In most countries in Africa, about 75% of the population lives in the rural areas. These people depend on a network of poorly developed, seasonal, unreliable low forms of access which is also un-gazetted hence not included in Government budget. This imposes a "Transport Penalty" on the millions of rural inhabitants who daily have to struggle to transport their goods and travel around to fulfill their social needs such as hospital, postal services, market and visiting friends and relatives. Ironically, these people also pay taxes and contribute to the food security of the country. Yet, they are treated as "second class" citizens in their own countries in terms of transport and travel.
