Understand the principles of first aid relevant to maritime environments.; Recognize common medical emergencies and appropriate response measures.; Gain knowledge on using first aid equipment and responding to various medical situations.; Be able to coordinate effectively with medical services during emergency situations.; Learn the theoretical foundations for life-saving care and emergency medical treatment.

Day 1: Principles and Framework of Maritime First Aid Marines and naval personnel required to hold STCW certification.; Crew members of military vessels seeking to enhance their knowledge in first aid.; Onboard officers and staff needing comprehensive theoretical training in emergency response.

Day 1: Principles and Framework of Maritime First Aid

  • Overview of STCW requirements and their significance

  • Theoretical foundation of basic life support (CPR and AED theory)

  • Conducting a primary survey (Danger, Response, Shout for help, Airway, Breathing, Circulation)

Day 2: Medical Emergencies at Sea

  • Recognition and theoretical management of bleeding and shock

  • Wound care basics and theoretical bandaging techniques

  • Understanding fractures, sprains, and other injuries

Day 3: Managing Severe Conditions

  • Dealing with unconsciousness and its implications

  • Theoretical approach to treating hypothermia, hyperthermia, and dehydration

  • Addressing head, neck, and spinal injuries in a maritime environment

Day 4: Preparedness and Response Protocols

  • Learning theoretical approaches to emergency drills and response planning

  • Overview of first aid kits and emergency resources onboard

  • Understanding communication with external medical and emergency teams

Day 5: Review and Theoretical Assessment

  • Comprehensive review of all theoretical first aid content
