This course programme evaluates the economic impact of the rise of regional economic blocs often seen as a source of both cooperation and conflict in trade and other policies. It examines both the role of government policies and the role of transnational corporations in shaping the process of globalization and regional integration. The module aims to look at the economic rationale for greater economic integration; examines why some regions are rich, while others are poor; examines the significance of transnational corporations for regional development; examines the impact of government in addressing issues of trade, competitiveness, technology and growth.
The course is taught via lectures, seminar discussions, and group activity, using a variety of learning and multimedia resources
